چکیده
Background: Indonesia is the one of tropical climate country with high air humidity. It becomes main factor fungal infection, that called otomycosis, which caused by Aspergillus flavus. The treatment otomycosis usually done giving an azole antifungal drugs can give beneficial and adverse effects. Treatment be various kinds herbs. One herbs used, it citronella. Citronella contains essential oil 0,4% in citronella citronellal 32-45% geraniol 12-15% has ability as antifungal. aim this study to determine inhibitory against flavus growth. Methods: type research laboratory experiments posttest only control group design. 24-hour used subjects had been inoculated on SDA media given oils concentrations 0.5%, 1.0%, 1.5%, 2.0 %. observation measuring diameter zone, uses a caliper. Results: from average growth zone each concentration, they are 0.5% ;1.0%; 1.5%; 2.0% 9.11 mm; 12.03 13.62 16.81 mm. higher concentration oil, makes wider inhibition zone. level sensitivity intermediate, sensitive, sensitive. effectiveness less effective, effective enough, very effective. results statistical analysis showed Conclusion: was have significanteffect

ANTIFUNGAL ACTIVITY OF Cymbopogon nardus (L.) Rendle (CITRONELLA) AGAINST Microsporum canis FROM ANIMALS AND HOME ENVIRONMENT
Dermatophytosis is a common zoonosis in urban centers. Dogs and cats have played an important role as its disseminators. Environmental decontamination is essential for the prevention of its propagation to humans and animals. However, sanitizers or disinfectants with antifungal activity, currently available, have high toxicity. The present study evaluated the in vitro effects of an extract of ci...
متن کاملEXTRACTION OF CITRONELLA (Cymbopogon nardus) ESSENTIAL OIL USING SUPERCRITICAL CO2: EXPERIMENTAL DATA AND MATHEMATICAL MODELING
Citronella essential oil has more than eighty components, of which the most important ones are citronellal, geranial and limonene. They are present at high concentrations in the oil and are responsible for the repellent properties of the oil. The oil was extracted using supercritical carbon dioxide due to the high selectivity of the solvent. The operational conditions studied varied from 313.15...
متن کاملEssential Oil of Cymbopogon nardus (L.) Rendle: A Strategy to Combat Fungal Infections Caused by Candida Species
BACKGROUND The incidence of fungal infections, especially those caused by Candida yeasts, has increased over the last two decades. However, the indicated therapy for fungal control has limitations. Hence, medicinal plants have emerged as an alternative in the search for new antifungal agents as they present compounds, such as essential oils, with important biological effects. Published data dem...
